While you are weighing different Christmas party themes, you will find there are many good ones to choose from. Of course, some folks will ask why you even need a theme – since the theme will naturally be Christmas. But there are so many parties close to Christmas time that just donning a colored hat is not sufficient to make your party jump out from the crowd.

Christmas Party Themes For children

The first question for a children’s Christmas party is whether you want to center on the religious story. If you do, a manger is likely to be a central characteristic at your party. You might want to have ‘narrative time’ where some of the bigger kids tell parts of the Christmas story. Games can be based on the stable. You may even have the Three Wise Men giving way the prizes or handing out gifts instead of Santa.

Notwithstanding, if you are not a strongly Christian household or if you plan to have kids from other faiths in attendance at the party, you will in all likelihood want to choose from one of the regular children’s Christmas party themes. These may include Frosty the snowman or decorating the tree.

Of course it is traditional to have Santa visit Christmas parties for children to hand out gifts. You can hire a professional Santa for this, and that is probably the way to go if you want to win over children that he’s the real thing, because a professional Santa will have all of the essential equipment. He’ll also be able to manage all of those unenviable reindeer-related questions that children love to ask!

If you decide to go with the cheaper option of having a friend hire a costume and dress up as Santa, make sure it is somebody that none of the kids recognize. A  co-worker is often a good choice, since your children are not likely to meet them too often.

Christmas Party Themes For Adults

It may seem that a Christmas party for adults would be a very different thing from a children’s party. However, many of the same themes can be used. In fact, it can be a lot of fun being an adult and attending a party that almost seems to have made up for children – but with no kids present.

Of course, you are probably going to be serving alcohol and maybe some different food, but that may be just about the only difference. You will be able to still have Santa or Frosty visit. You can still trim a tree.

You can even play some of the old Christmas party games that you remember from when you were a child. Just keep in mind that adults will not usually accept being managed as tightly as children do. They will not expect to be playing games all of the time. But you can organize a few games early in the party. They will help to break the ice so that people meet each other, get over shyness and start to have fun. Then you can leave them to continue to have fun in a less organized manner as the party continues.

If you want to pick one of the more memorable Christmas party themes, you can focus on one particular aspect of Christmas. For example, you could have a karaoke machine playing Christmas carols instead of day-to-day songs. You could have everyone crat something Christmas-related, like home made ornaments, wreaths or cookies. In fact, the only limit to the range of Christmas party themes is your imaginativeness!

Merry Christmas,
